If official recognition (like a prize or an exhibition in a museum) acts as a genuine career catalyst, Denitsa Todorova is the personification of an emerging artist. I already wrote about her on occasion of the expo in Museum M in Leuven but have no choice than to write about her again as the winner of the Art Prize of the municipality of Ronse, a recognized art prize in Belgium. The Art Market Report from Artprice dedicated an entire chapter to the factors that determine the public perception of an artist career. One can easily imagine the headline above Denitsa Todorova’s summary biography: ‘a long prepared eruption’. She is a slow but steady career builder with an artistic approach which is characterized by patience, simplicity but at the same time focus. Commercial acumen is absent as a result of which she kinda looks like the living disapprovement of vanity and pomposity.
